The very first Galgo Espanol in Finland, a white/brindle female named Naya, "Hulda" was imported in 1993 by Anette Sonntag from the Spanish kennel Ganaderia del Sierra Morena.The next import came from Sweden, a black/white male Elendilis Artano "Hugo", imported by Anette Sonntag and owned by Soile Kollin. Hugo was a Finnish Champion. The next imports were in 1999, black sisters Royal Tramp's La Cellisca Falldale "Sisko" and Royal Tramp's La Cascade Falldale "Saga" from Sweden. Both are Finnish Champions and Saga has also a lure coursing certificate. Saga is owned by Santtu Suuronen and Sisko is owned by Pentti Suuronen.Then it was time for a Spanish import when Taija Jokela and Eija Kaipainen imported a redbrindle female Rayma Faralaes, "Niña" from Spain. Niña had CACIBs and she is Finnish Champion and FW-02, -03.There was also another import in 2000 from Sweden, a wire-haired black/white bitch Paramour Baroness More Or Less "Nena". Nena is owned by Marianna Selenius. Nena has one show certificate.In summer of 2001 a dark brindle male Boliche-Cordobés de la Fuentona arrived from Spain, owned by Päivi Nurmi. Calle is Finnish&Swedish Champion, FinnishJuniorWinner-01, FinnishWinner-02, Nordic Winner -05, European Winner -06. He is lacking only one cacib from abroad to achieve his International Champion title. In Fall of 2003 the redbrindle male Rayma Jaumet, "Ville" was imported from Spain by Päivi Nurmi. At the end of 2003 a light brindle female called Rayma Itaca was imported by Anette Sonntag&Leena Rönhovde-Juslin. Later, Anette Sonntag imported black bitch Gilda de Calathea and light brindle male Garabato de Calathea to Finland.The very first galgo espanol litter (8 puppies) in Finland was born to Rayma Itaca and Garabato de Calathea in August 2006 at Anette's Kashaya-kennel. It seems that Galgos are getting new friends here…hopefully in the future more people will be interested in this lovely and versatile breed. About the galgos:
